In California, bare-root strawberry plants are available starting around Christmas and into early February. That is the best time to plant strawberries. Almost every decent nursery and independent garden center will carry them then. Joe

Most of the strawberry plant nurseries are in Oregon and are dug when dormant and put in cold storage. The better retail nurseries will have facilities to keep them in cold storage until sold. Avoid roots that have been allowed to desiccate because of poor nursery care. Al

Thanks Joe and Al. I will keep this task in my schedule for Christmas. I missed it last year. T-
