First time growing

I am in the army and just moved to Fort Irwin, and it is pretty much the desert! There is a garden where you can rent a 10X10 plot and grow whatever you want. Wanting to get some info on here about what vegetables to grow in such a harsh climate. Any help would be great.

Think of summer in your area as analogous to winter in, say, Chicago or upstate New York.

In your area, late fall, winter and the first two or three weeks of spring will be the best growing weather.
