Unknown perennial in Sacramento

Anyone with an idea what this is? Spotted in Sacramento, CA.

I think it's a type of hydrangea, but I can't really tell from your photo. Look at this website and compare to the real thing.

Hi Carla,
Thanks for the response, but I don't think it's a hydrangea. It looks more like the Rubiaceae family to me. But, I really don't know. Thanks again.

Clerodendrum bungei - and it is very invasive, so think twice....

It's beautiful. Lots of horror stories about it.
A big pot with a tray under it so the invasive runners can't run free might be the ticket.

Cashmere Bouquet is the common name for it. It does send out runners and can take over the garden, but not nearly as invasive as a mint. In a shady part of the garden or better yet in a container it is able to fill a spot.
