In the Bay Area (South San Jose) and I will plant spring blooming bulbs from now to November (and if I slack sometimes even into December), and they all do fine.

Carmel Valley may be a different zone from mine, but I would think that they would be fine if planted now.
If you're not comfortable with that, then just leave them outside in a cool, shaded, rain-protected area and they should keep until you're ready to plant them.

I keep mine on a table under a covered patio area until I'm ready to plant them.

Neither daffodils nor Dutch iris need any special chilling or refriegeration or other special storage. Plant them now.

As for the Peony, plant it now and good luck to you.

Yep. Plant them now. No problems with eitehr daffs or Dutch iris, in this weather. They do not demand chilling.

To improve your chances of your peony blooming eventually, keep it high enough that you can see the buds for next years stems. They need to be exposed to air temperature rather than soil temperature to get enough winter chill to bloom. If they do not bloom the first two years don't think they never will. It just depends on what you are starting with. A generous division may bloom the first year while a bareroot containing none of the normal storage root may take three years. Al

Thanks to all who posted their responses. The bulbs arrived yesterday, and we are having some hot weather now. So I'll keep the bulbs at home, in a relatively cool place for now.
Al - your advice about peonies explained to me why the peonies I planted last year not only did not bloom, but did not show any leaves even until September. I thought they just died, and that's why I ordered new ones. With luck, I will have a lot of peonies in a couple of years!
