Potted lavender

Hi people,
I just bought a 10" potted lavender that at time of purchase it was beautiful with tons of upright purple flowers. I've placed it on my deck where it gets all morning and some afternoon sun but the flowers are now limp. I live in coastal Southern California, I have not watered the plant since I bought it (2 days ago) because I know these are native to the Mediterranean region so dry and sunny days are better. Can anyone help? |

| Likely you need to water. (To determine if that's true, stick your finger into the potting mix -- is it wet, dry or moist?) The reasons you may need to water: It's in a pot. Thus, the roots are restricted to only that volume. Pots dry much faster than the ground. |

| Yes, I agree with Jean, you probably need to water it. Plants in containers will never be as drought tolerant as they are in the ground. |

| If you were to knock it out of the pot you would probably find the pot is full of ONLY roots. When you water, the water will run through the pot and out the drain holes, thats OK, but you will have to water as often as it takes to avoid the wilting of the foliage. Al |
