browning protea

I have a Protea cynaroides in the ground for the last 6 months. Our pH is neutral. I think the plant started to brown when we had the really hot weather. Quite a few leaves have either brown edges or are totally brown. It is mulched with tree trimmings. My soil is sandy loam. I live in the San diego area.

Are you irrigating it at all? What is the pH and phosphorus content of your source water (water company should list this info)?

Hi Hoovb,

Our water is high in pH. Around 8, maybe higher. We water once a week, deep and long.
I emailed the water company about phosphorus and pH. It is not on their website.
