Christmas Trees

I know this technically isn't a garden question, but it is basically a tree question (heh). What happened to the silver tip firs? They used to be the standard at the tree lots, but I can't find a solitary one in Sonoma or Marin County. We picked up a White Fir down in Marin which is similar, branches not quite as sturdy though. My son is disappointed because it doesn't smell, but I love being able to display my glass ornaments properly after years of settling for a Noble.

Also, for next year, anyone have opinions on what the "smelliest" trees are? Cut one down at farm maybe?

All I ever see are Nobles and Douglas Firs. We buy Nobles and thin them out so there's enough space to hang ornaments.

For smelliness, you can pick up a few boughs of pine, preferably from the neighbor's trees. :D

That's what we've been doing the last few years, and since my son won't let up on how unscented the white fir is, we'll probably go back to Nobles again next year. But LOL on the neighbor's trees. When I asked where to find a silver tip, a friend suggested scouring the neighborhood with my chain saw. Dark minds think alike, LOL
