Perhaps Dracaena reflexa 'Variegata'. A houseplant in most places but San Diego is pretty mild especially if you are close to the ocean.

I like dracaenas as indoor plants because they are pretty tolerant of a variety of temperatures (in winter, we let our house get pretty cool at night) and don't need to be kept constantly moist. Don't overwater them.
