I must depend on my son's willingness to transport and plant....How thorny is this rose? How big is the plant/root ball?

I'm in the Pomona/Claremont area. I haven't pruned it yet and much of the root ball is still in the ground, but I will prune it down to a manageable size when it is taken. I estimate the root ball to be a couple of feet wide (without soil) but I can't say for sure.

I ran the idea by my son, and he isn't willing. [He's redoing the front yard and is not ready to think about plantings] That rose looks like a wonderful plant ... hope you find a good home for it!

Hi Jenn - will this rose need to be pruned annually like hybrid tea roses or just needs a lot of room to grow. Will full blazing sun be too much?

Hi Kasie,

Blush Noisette isn't pruned like hybrid tea roses. I just give it a light trimming and deadhead last season's blooms, and any canes I don't want. Our other one is full-size, about 5-6 feet tall and about 8 feet wide, so it does need plenty of room. Here's some info on it at Vintage Gardens.

Oh - ours is in part sun so I don't know how well it tolerates hot sun, but I haven't seen info stating it can't.
