I just discovered this web territory about 3 min ago. I am always interested in Camellia species. Is your plant producing pink flowers? It is hard to get real color from a picture. Mine is bright orange red. One species may have different flower color.

Yes, they are red. It seems the color is hard to capture with a CCD type digital camera..it super saturates.

I have a hybrid, C. chekiangoleosa X Wildfire. It has bright red color but the petals are not symmetrical. This seedling was produced 8 years ago.

In recent two years, I have been working on this species again and produced many seedlings.

There are over 200 Camellia species. An International Camellia Species Garden is located in the city of Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, China. I have the list.

For drawing from Flora of China ("Petals 6-8, roseate or rarely white, broadly obovate, 4-6 × 3-4.5 cm, apex emarginate")...
