A camellia enthusiast is traveling to Japan (Tokyo) and wanted to know of places to go and see camellias. I have not been there so I wondered if anyone has suggestions within a day's travel of Tokyo? TIA, Luis

I'd try searching strings like "japan camellia gardens tokyo" and so on.

I recommend the backrun of _The American Camellia Society Yearbook_ (1945-present) as an excellent source of illustrated articles on the old camellia trees that have grown in Japanese temple gardens for hundreds of years. These articles identify the names and locations of the temples as well as the camellia cultivars growing in the gardens, if they are known. This specialized information is probably not yet findable in Cyberspace, but should be available to anyone who has access to a research library. The research university libraries in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, particularly those supporting curricula in horticulture, botany, landscape design, etc., should own the full run of _The American Camellia Society Yearbook_. Look into the volumes published in the forties, fifties, and sixties to find these articles.

Luis, I propose him to visit the site URL of www.ykanda.jp/camellia.html. There there is a list of places with very important camellias. An important place is the 'Jindai Tokio metropolitan Botanical Park'.
Also he can put in touch with the representative of the associates of the ICS for the Japan. He can ask for many Exhibitions of flowers of Camellias that are celebrated next months there.
Regarrds.
