HI, I am new on this forum and I have a question

Hi, I have been on
GW for a very long time, but never stopped in this forum. I have a question about 1 of my camellia Japonicas. Earlier in the season, it had 3 blooms which were pink and white and looked very similar to fashionata, but I checked it yesterday and the very same plant is blooming with solid pink double flowers. Has anyone had this happen before?
Thanks, Linda

RE: HI, I am new on this forum and I have a question

Welcome to the forum, ibartoo. Yes, I have an Eleanor McCown that blooms mostly white-ish flowers with red or pink streaks. But some times I get a few full pink blooms.

I placed a link below to a bad picture that I took last year. You can see the full pink blooms mostly on the lower right quadrant of the picture. I have not gotten blooms on E/M this year so I do not know what to expect. This is some times caused by DNA instability and by viruses at other times.

Here is a link that might be useful: What is it going to be?

Thanks Luis, the solid pink flower on this one is beautiful. I have no idea which variety this camellia truly is but I would really like to find more like this one. It is a double almost peony form with blossoms about 4-5 inches in diameter. It is also a very strong variety as it is growing under some sasanquas and I really didn't know it was there.

Sporting of Camellia japonica cultivars is frequent.
