I found a Camellia japonica 'Silver Waves' at a wholesaler today. It has a semi-double white flower about 6" across with a big yellow boss of anthers. The label says it is a vigorous upright grower. The seller did not know much about it. Can anyone tell me anything about this cultivar?

Nice choice! Its from Nuccio's Nursery in California, registered in 1969. I have some small ones that I am proud of. One of the nice things about it is that it blooms fairly early and is somewhat resistant to petal blight. We don't see them much around here in the southeast, so its neat you found one. Way to go!!

Thank you, ForrestAl. I like to research my plants but found little on the web about this one. I tend to go for species rather than the hybrids, but I couldn't pass up this plant.
