Does bloom form improve with age?

| I have a rather small young camellia, which, thanks to the wonderous advice from you guys, is currently thriving. It's finishing its blooming, which for a small camellia was extremely generous!
However, I'm really confused though because the label said it was "Winter's Interlude" and the blooms, while a cool toned pink, it notably not the anemone form as "Winter's Interlude" is shown to be- they looked to me more like "Winter's Charm" which I suspect it might actually be....so I'm just asking if younger camellias have flowers with less than signature bloom form and as they mature they get more characteristic, or do I have a mislabel on my hands? |

Hello, oath5. It happens so often with all kinds of plants that I too suspect that the wholesaler may have mislabeled the plant. If there is some difference in the bloom when little, it should not be an issue by the time the plant is for sale. The reason is that Camellias are such slow growers that what you buy from the nurseries should be a plant that is many years old. However, I admit that I have not grown any of the Winter Series so perhaps someone who has can share with us. If you have any photos that could be posted, that may also help the others. Luis |
