Leaf problem

I have a camellia that I keep in a pot inside. Its leaves are drying up, but not in the way I associate with a lack of water. Instead of getting brown around the edges, the whole leaf just seems to dry up and turns brown-green, then falls off. It's been in the basement, near a north-facing window. The basement isn't heated. I don't know what kind it is. The label said it would be a red double, but it blooms a single flower pink with white streaks.
Thanks,

| Here this plant could be outside most of the time, where it would no doubt be much happier. The leaf problem is possibly mites, unless it is an occasional older leaf only. |
