Should I wait?

Bossy vossy

My fave neighbor died and his wife allowed me to take one of his camellias. I think it is a japonica. I transplanted it in Spring 2011 and it quickly lost its foliage. It looked dead most of last summer, which was a very harsh, hot summer. In the fall, as I was pulling it out, I noticed lovely, little white roots. i quickly set it back in place. It is now Feb. 2012 and there is no sign of life. Should I wait some more? The plant was 3 ft wide x 4 ft tall when I initially transplanted. thanks for your help.
