camellia wont bloom

I have had a camellia plant (don't know the type) for three years. It has never bloomed. I never really took good care of it. In the past, it got a few buds but they eventually dried up. This last year I have taken care of the plant (trying to discover my green thumb), I have watered, fertilized with proper camellia fert and "cleaned" it up. It has many large sized, healthy looking buds - size of a big green olive- and some have just a little pink showing, but they have been suspended in this state for the last three weeks.
What should I do? Is it too late for them to bloom properly? Or should I cut my loses and snip them off, re fert and hope for the best next season? And what is the typical time frame for them to bloom? (I've heard of early and late blooming camellias - not sure what mine is?
Thnks for any advice?

I would wait. Certainly don't fertilize at this time. Sometimes camellias take a long time to bloom once they've formed buds.

as rhizo_1 said just wait and they will open , my own camellia blossom in nov through dec, jan, feb, mar, apr if the winter is ugly they blossom in mar,apr or just nov . and the buds are there all summer and open in nov-apr . so give it a time
