How to Tell When Camellia Cuttings Have Rooted?

I took some camellia cuttings from my grandmother's shrubs and started rooting them 2 months ago today. I've been keeping an eye on them and the cuttings are growing and sprouting new leaves. How can I tell when they've rooted enough that I can move them out of their little "terrarium" and maybe into the kitchen or something?

Sounds like you may there already. Usually, in about 2 months, you can very very gently try to pull them up. If you notice some resisteance when pulling them, you have roots and can transplant them. Just be very careful to stop pulling when you feel resistance.

I'm a little concerned that your cuttings might be trying to put on spring growth with no roots. Are your cuttings inside your house ... or outside in a coldframe?

The best time to take cuttings, I thought, was in July or August when new growth has hardened, they have a lot of stored energy, and they're not real prone to breaking dormant buds.

Hopefully someone with more experience will respond.
