Moving a camellia

I have a chance to get a camellia from someone who doesn't want it anymore. It's more than waist high 5 or more years old and healthy with pink flowers. I don't know anything else about it. My question is about digging it up. How far out and down should we dig? What else do we need to know about moving this plant? Thanks for any advice.

First you need to prepare the new location before you dig. Camellia roots are shallow so you won't need to go very deep. You can use the canopy as a guide for width. Plant it in the new location at the same level as it was at the old location. Water in well and mulch.
