Black Magic surprise

It's looking rather decrepit, but am surprised it had any blooms it at all after the rotten winter. It was raining when I took the picture, but expecting a hard frost tonight so the flowers might not be there tomorrow.

RE: Black Magic surprise

I hope you got some flowers despite the frost you were expecting.

It really is amazing what camellias will put up with, and still put out buds.

'Black Magic' has a lovely flower so if it bloomed, I hope you'll share some pics. Or if not this year, maybe next?

RE: Black Magic surprise

Thanks, I think you're right. Just really glad to get anything this year.

RE: Black Magic surprise

I like most camellias, but I'm really a sucker for those dark red ones. Hopefully, next winter will be milder so you can show off undamaged blooms.

Camellias here are putting out new leaves- it's nice to see those cold-damaged leaves replaced with green or bronze new foliage.
