Are Camellias Hardy

in zone 7?

I always thought they were very tender plants.

There are now cultivars that are hardy into Zone 6 and 5 (protected). Most of the more cold-tolerant ones are the fall blooming hybrids.

We are in Southampton County, VA, some 75 miles inland from the Atlantic and 25 miles north of NC and my camellias do beautifully.
