waxing flowers

i have never heard of doing this but it does interest me.
ForrestAL brought it to my attention and, if you are inclined to try it (i guess i will have to wait until the next season), the link with instructions are provided below.

one negative comment i could make of camellias is that the cut flowers only look good for a couple of days.
with this treatment, they are supposed to last for many days, even weeks!

if anyone has favorite cultivars or variations of method to recommend, please do so.

Here is a link that might be useful: camellia waxing

It works with Roses too. And zinnias. A friend waxed an entire magnolia bloom! But a daylily is still a day-lily even when waxed. Different flowers are fun to try. The process is the same as with camellias, and the flowers look like porcelain. You will be amazed. If a clumsy guy like me can do it, anybody can! It is great fun to experiment with, no kidding.

This is an interesting idea that I want to try. By the way, I never had luck with cut camellia flowers either until I learned the secret...just keep them outdoors protected from elements. A week ago, I cut some camellia J. stems/flowers and put them in a vase on the outside cafe table close to my front door. A week later now, the open flowers still are gorgeous and even the buds are beginning to open. I'm sure to have at least another week or two out of these cuttings at this rate.
