Variegation in Paulette Goddard

Is it common for Paulette Goddard to have white blotches on its flowers? Mine is beautifully splashed with white spots and blotches on its red flowers. How hardy is this variety?

RE: Variegation in Paulette Goddard

'Paulette Goddard' is documented as one of the most cold hardy japonicas ever. By Wendell Levi of North Carolina who in the 60s conducted one of the most thorough cold weather studies of traditional japonicas. And by Dr. William Ackerman who recorded it as one of a small handful of japonicas that survived the harsh winter freezes that destroyed almost the entire camellia collection at the US National Arboretum in Washington DC. And by others. It reportedly is hardy to Zone 7.

The original is solid dark red but there is a variegated version also. Is yours all variegated, or are there some solids?? This is a variety that is rarely propagated commercially any more, unfortunately, and thus hard to find. There are many people who would probably like to have a scion (including me). You have a prize!
