Is now the time for leaf drop in Zone 7/8?

I noticed that two of my camellias -a sasanqua yuletide and a japonica debutante- have an unusually large number of leaves with brown edges. They are located in different shady areas. No signs of insects. And plants in the area (e.g., hydrangeas, etc) do not appear to be water stressed so I wondered if it was just leaf drop time. TIA, Luis!
