 o
bright shade or early morning sun

I am planting camelias for the first time and need advice. I have two locations to choose from. One is on a north wall and gets lots of indirect light but no direct light. The other is an east wall that gets a couple of hours of morning light and then shade for the rest of the day. Which is better for camellias? I am planting Chasonettes. Thanks.

I would think the eastern exposure will be best. Despite what many folks will tell you, camellias can tolerate some sun, some varities more than others. With Chansonette I think it would perform better with more light and you should get more flowers that if planted in the full shade with no direct light.
