Blooming in August

My Camellia sinensis is blooming in August here in the major heat of Southeastern Louisiana. Is that unusual or what?! I thought Camellias were winter bloomers?

RE: Blooming in August

It blooms in the fall. However, Mother Naure does not go by the calendar or by our definition of fall so do not worry if it blooms early sometimes. There are many varieties of camellias and they bloom from fall until spring. Sinensis and Sasanquas will bloom early. Japonicas will bloom during the winter time. Luis
