Prune tall camellia?

| I have a camellia which is about 7' tall. It tends to be a tall, skinny bush as I keep it pruned back from a walkway. It is very full with foliage clear to the ground.
The bush has grown quite a bit this year and has some of the new growth sticking up straight on the top. I wonder if I should clip this off in order to keep the camellia bushy all the way to the ground, or will it stay bushy no matter how tall it gets? |

| It is subjective with you. It sounds like an upright grower, and you will have this situation every year -- some camellias want to grow straight up. One solution is to quit fighting it, just limb it up into tree form (which clears up the walkway) and let it grow tall. They are beautiful as small trees. Or you can keep it pruned low. Its all what you like. |

| Thank you. I don't want it bare at the bottom, but I thought it might start to get bare as it grows taller. I think I'll just leave it alone, except for keeping it back from the walk. |
