Glen 40 very-slow or fast growing ?

I have a very nice 5 years'old 'Glen 40', in a container.

I have always read it's a very slow growing camellia. But, this year it took 30 cm.... is it normal ?

I would like to inser it in a edge next spring. In this edge, I don't want slow growing camellias.

Thank your for answering...

Laurie

Sorry for my bad english....

'Glen 40' is classified as a slow grower. It originated here in Mobile, Alabama, at Azalea Glen Nursery. My plant has shown good growth on certain limbs each year but is slower overall than others. Yet this variety is hardy and very beautiful with formal red flowers, and it can become a very large and handsome plant over time -- as we have seen in this area. (Your English is excellent!)

Thank you for your message. I had noticed that growth was "irregular". My camellias (and my 'Glen 40') are in a very sheltered place of my garden.... I tought it was the reason of the very fast growing of 'Glen 40'.

For all others, I've no question on this matter.

Have a nice day.

Laurie.
