Could I grow Camellia in 6b without protection?

None of the local nurseries carry Camellia and I guess for the good reason, but I'd like to push the limits and try it.
What is the most hardy cultivar (and source for it) could you recommend?

There are some hardy to zone 6. Most of them are crosses with C. Olifera and were bred by a couple of different people. These would be the ones to try in your area.

Here is a link that might be useful: American Camellia Society list of Cold Hardy Camellias

Camellia 'Plain Jane' in my opinion is the most hardy camellia in N.A. Grows well in Toronto, Canada, and we have very cold winters. This winter, Bette Sette and April Remembered had dieback, but Plain Jane was perfect.
