Help-Yellow Jackets Building Nest on Budding Camellia- Help!

Posted by BethFL Z9 (My Page) on

Yellow jackets have been building two nests under leaves on my camellia. This is from my grandmother's garden and my father rooted it years ago. I planted it three years back, and it finally has buds!! Someone at my local nursery said to put sevin dust on it - which seems pretty difficult given the location. I'm so worried I may damage the plant. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Beth :)

You can get Wasp and Hornet killer in an aerosol spray at the supermarket or hardware store. right there along side of the Roach and Ant killer. just aim, spray and run as you are going to make them angry. It may take a couple of really good soakings to do the job.

It won't hurt the bush.

They just can't live with soap and water touching them. Kills em dead. If you could douse them with a bucket or a hose sprayer, that would work too.

I would probably spray them with the can though.

Thanks! Will take care of them tomorrow! They're not nearly as intimidating now that I know I can save the plant! Beth :)
