Would it be wise to give my camellia plant food during autum,it is the first camellia i have ever had and was planted in july this year.

Wait until the end of flowering, if it's a japonica or an hybrid (during spring). If it's a sasanqua, do the same.

Food it and prune it at the same time. Prunig is useful but wait the end of the flowering.
