I'm a garden writer here in California. I grow Camellia susanqua here in the foothills of the Sierra. I'm interested in interviewing or questioning someone who is knowledgable about susannqua.

I would suggest contacting Ann Walton (Executive Director) or Tom Johnston (Horticulturist) with the American Camellia Society. See link below. They can give you some great information plus the names of some camellia gardeners there in California whom you may want to contact as well.
