I live in Western North Carolina and have moved a plant down here from upstate NY when we moved this spring. It did great outside but as it seems that it might get quite cold here in the mts. we moved it inside. It had formed many buds this fall and now that it is inside they have started to fall off any ideas? thanks dave

RE: buds falling off

i imagine it is the lack of humidity and lower light levels.
they are not good candidates as houseplants. you could try to grow it outdoors in a sheltered location. some camellias do o.k. in zone 7 winters but are generally considered as suitable for zones 7b or higher.

I'm afraid that Jeff is right. Losing the buds would be a normal reaction for a camellia that has been brought inside.
