In praise of shattered blooms

For garden impact, I really like the effect of blooms that shatter into a carpet of color. This is a photo of 'Lady Van Sittart' taken at Massee Lane Gardens which is the home of the American Camellia Society in Fort Valley, Georgia. If you ever get a chance to see this garden during blooming season, do yourself a favor and go by there. There are hundreds of varieties, so it is a great place to make a wish list too.

Now that is nice. I don't get that kind of effect when my plants do that, it just looks messy! I wish I could go back and visit Massee Lane.

I did some landscaping work a few years ago in Marshalville that was just down the street from the garden. I drove by the sign everyday! This was in May, so there would have been nothing to see.

Thanks, Forrest. For your desires. And for the photography. There are happy moments, in the flowering of the Camellias. One of these moments, it happens when the Camellias are in full flowering.

Another beautiful moment, it happens when some Camellia's variety, it shows a carpet of petals in the soil of the garden.

I would like to visit some day these magnificent gardens with camellias.
Regards.

The carpet of petals of Camellia's flowers in the soil of the garden, happens with more frequency in the simple flowers and also in the semidouble flowers.

It is more difficult to see in other forms of flowers.

In November 26, Camellia X vernalis was in full flowering. Exemplary this one belongs to the collection of Soutomaior's Castle.
