| Actually, luis, 'Chansonette' is not a sasanqua, but a snow camellia (Camellia hiemalis). |

| I have three and loooooove them. They are sooo pretty and bloom so good every fall. My tag said it was a sasanqua. |

| Yes, but not to worry though. Many wholesalers will group hiemalis and vernalis cultivars under "sasanqua" because, for the general gardening public, they all have very similar characteristics and cultural needs. Hiemalis is correct. |

| Actually gusolie, you were only half right. You are technically correct that Chansonette is a C. hiemalis, but C. hiemalis are not snow camellias. Snow camellias are C. rusticana. The origin of C. heimalis is unknown, but assumed to be ancient hybrids with japonica and sansanqua parentage. However all of this is immaterial,as C. heimalis & C. vernalis are both typically called sasanquas by the vast majority of people. |
