Named cultavars of Camellia need to be propagated vegetatively in order to produce offspring with the same physical characteristics. You see, their genetic makeup is extremely complex. It's only by cloning that we can have more Yuletide, etc. So what you are looking for is small grafts or rooted cuttings. Do you understand that? It's the same with many other plants, too. If you planted the seeds from your favorite hybrid tea rose, no telling what you'd get!

I should add that you can certainly grow camellia from seed, and can be greatly rewarded by doing so. It's just that you never know what you'll end up with.

You need to decide whether you want to collect more nice registered camellia flowers or to grow camellia from seeds. If you want grow camellia seeds just for curiocity and fun, you can collect many seeds to grow. However the outcome seedlings are likely less of flower quality. The old rule says that you may find one very good camellia from 100 seedlings.
