My Camellias

Hi,
I have two Camellias that have never bloomed. I don't know their names as I inherited them last year from the previous owners.
I have moved 1 to a more sunny spot with morning sun and afternoon shade.
The one that I moved is getting some buds on it. Should I fertilize it now or just wait?
Any help is appreciated. |

| Wait until near the end of the blooming season to fertilize your camellias, about the end of March for your Zone 9 in Northern CA. Use a balanced fertilizer for acid loving plants or cottonseed meal is also good. Fertilize about three times at roughly two month intervals. |

It may be that they are seedlings. Sometimes it takes quite a few years for them to bloom. Also, if the previous owner had pruned them, that could also set the bloom cycle back. When you say "inherited", did you mean that they were already planted at your house? Or did you mean that someone had given them to you? If you just planted them last year, you may have just lost the buds for this season. |
