camellia bowls

My mother has always loved camellia flowers and she has quite a few plants herself. I'm trying to find a good vase for her to use with the flowers. She's mentioned having a "circular?" shallow vase or bowl that they used when she was a child. Does anybody know what these are called and where I can find one? I greatly appreciate any leads.

Thanks,
John

have never seen such sold as "camellia bowls" but we simply use any glass container that is appealing. a floral "frog" can be placed in the bottom of a bowl that is too deep to elevate the flowers. a shallow candy dish or decorative ashtray works just fine, too.

John, my advice would be to look for something clear or white. I've used shallow serving bowls or even cake plates ( with a small rim), both of which can hold more than one camellia. Look at some footed compotes to see what you think.

For a single display, soup or salad bowls can be added to Jeff's suggestion, as can pretty dessert bowls. A trip to an antique store, or flea market would be in order!

I love how camellia blooms look floating in shallow glass bowls. I JUST bought (today, literally) a shallow round clear glass bowl, about 7" in diameter, from Pier 1 Imports, to use as a bloom vase to float mine in (yay, finally blooming!). I think it was intended as a bowl to float small votive candles in b/c I found it in the candle section. If you have a Pier 1 near you, give it a try. I searched briefly online, typing in "floating votive holders," which yielded some promising results. Enjoy your blooms!

Here is a link that might be useful: Discount Candle Shop

John, I think the bowls that you are looking for are sometimes found in antiques stores. I see them, but not very often.
Thanks
