Viola seeds in freezer?

I read on the back of a seed package that viola seeds are to be kept in the freezer for two weeks before planting. They have been in for a week. Is this ok? Can I plant/germinate them indoors now? I am worried because they say you should plant them 10-12 weeks before final frost and I believe that in my zone 3 in Canada (Manitoba) that day will hopefully be sooner! I know it is only the difference of a week...but I want them to be ready when all of my other seeds/flowers I am germinating are ready!

thank you!
