I have not been for a year or two. I would not agree with the statement with respect to the marketplace. I loved it when Loblaws was there, they had great stuff in there booth. You will find the same stuff as in the garden centers - just a little later on.

There were orchid vendors there. There was one I bought from that I disliked. The sold plumeria and lilies too. They were rude, didn't want to share info and they provided a paper sheet of info if you bought from them. Their website was none existant. Idon't recall their name.

Prices will not be cheap. They have to pay for their space.

But, I did buy a great hardy orchid and nice peony. They were small but have grown well and were expensive. $50 ea for a 3.5" pot. But iknew what I was getting. No tax and no shipping.

I've been there yearly and yes there are orchid sellers there. However this year, they teamed up with the National Home Show and so when I had to check their online information for their marketplace, I just couldn't make sense of it.. that is because they didn't distinguish the plant sellers from the other products like garden accessories.

I've gone the past three years, and I have only seen Phalaenopsis and Cymbidium. There is a vendor that had some Oncidium and Tolumnia. They also sell bonsai, air plants, and misc tropicals. They are there every year at Blooms and at the EX. There is another vendor that sells cymbidium divisions and plumeria cuttings. I am pretty sure I remember seeing some bare-root cattleya at their booth as well. I had bought a cymbidium division and it never rooted for me. I had seen some Miltonia one year as well. But nothing unusual in terms of orchids.

I agree with origami master here. I went this weekend and saw the same vendors at the other shows. YOu might as well save your $20 ticket it that is the only reason you plan to join. If it's rare plants you want to check out check the Toronto Botanical Garden's website for information. Clubs gather there so perhaps there's an upcoming orchid club sale.. who knows.. check out their website.
