moving a clematis

Hi. I would like to move my 'Josephine' clematis. It's about 4 years old. Last year it did a really great job of flowering. I have been reading some posts and they said that if pruned back severely it won't come back and flower as well as it did before. I also learned that it was pruning group 2. My question is, if I move it should I leave the vines on it or risk pruning them? I would hate to loose the lovely flowers it has now. Right now the vines are about 6' long. I had thought I might be able to pot up the plant, carefully coil up the vines and move it that way. Any opinions? Thanks. Marg
