we purchased the very same blade from Can tire this past week, and used it yesterday. It did a good job of dethatching, tearing up all the dead loose grass. We will still have to use a thatch rake but the job will take about 2 hours versus the over 20 hours we put into dethatching by hand last year. We purchased a set of spare plastic tines as dear hubby anticipated some breakage - 2 tines were broken once our lawn and the neighbor's lawns were done. They are easily replaced.
The instructions that came with the blade say that the blade should be on the lowest height setting. This we found may need to be adjusted if the ground is not perfectly levelled. The grass was scalpled in the these areas and divets of soil flew everywhere. This also happens if the grass was very wet and /or soil soft in some areas. Aside from this we were very happy with the blade for it made a backbreaking job much easier. It was well worth the $30 investment for the blade and replacement tines.
