granny smith apple trees

Hi,

The garden centre at our local Canadian Tire is selling a Granny Smith apple tree. I've reseached the internet about the hardiness zone but find conflicting information. Does anyone grow this variety? If so, what Canadian hardiness zone are you in and does this tree grow well for you?

Any other information or comments on the Granny Smith apple tree welcomed.

Do you have any apple orchards near your home? You may be able to call and ask if they grow granny smith apples. That would let you know if they are hardy in your area. I know that the pick your own apple orchard near me has them--Z6

Deb, I've grown two Granny Smith apple trees for about 20yrs now.Here in zone 6 they grow like weeds. You won't have any problem.PM

Granny smith does best in zone 6. Danneh is in zone 5a, (borderline zone 4). I honestly think it would not perform well in that area unless she has a microclimate in a zone 6.

Although the Granny Smith apple is my absolute favorite apple, I am going to pass on the Granny Smith apple tree.
