Spring snow broke willow branches

We had a very heavy wet snow last week. I tried shaking the snow off our trees twice before I went to bed that night but...! A new laurel leaf willow tree that was planted in a tree ring in our new patio last fall lost a number of branches, all on the same side of course. The side I wanted the shade on! So I have a very lopsided tree now.

My question is, should I prune the rest of the tree back so it will grow out more evenly all over? I don't want to be stuck with such a lopsided tree forever just because it was damaged the first year we had it, know what I mean? There's a guy down the street that chops his willow back to the trunk every spring and it does fine, mind you it's an older tree than ours is to start with.
