Pampas grass

I'm zone 5b, Ontario and planted pampas grass last year. It did really well but I don't think it survived over the winter. Anyone had success with it?

It isn't hardy here no matter what the seed packages say!
I tried it from seed and then brought it in for the winter but it didn't make it there either.
