My husband and I just bought our first house and are looking forward to moving in mid-July! However, I'm now faced with the task of moving everything from my first (rented) garden to the new yard.

The advice of a local nursery was to pot everything up now and keep the pots well-watered and shaded for a couple months instead of trying to dig things out of the ground in the middle of the summer. So I've potted a bunch of stuff up and left the pots on a capillary mat to try and keep them moist. They're in a fairly breezy spot so hopefully the humidity from the mat won't give them problems.

Can anybody tell me more about successfully moving a garden? Is there anything else I should be doing, or something I'm doing you wouldn't recommend?
