Diervilla lonicera or bush honeysuckle, is a native shrub which will take low light and dry soil. It grows to about 4'.

try one of the gold lieafed spireas.

I grew the native diervilla lonicera in dry clay and part sun. Beware that it is a suckering shrub that spreads underground.
