Mold doesn't sound like good news, though.

Thank you, abrodie ! It sounds like it may be early for crocosmia yet. I will keep hoping at least some of the bulbs will sprout.

I just dug up and divided my clump of Crocosmia yesterday. It's been in the ground for about 5 years. The tallest leaves are already about 18" high, although the leaves from the smaller bulbs are just a couple of inches above ground. I'm sure my original purchase was from a garden centre and would've been in a pot, rather than bare bulb. The bulbs I dug up yesterday were various sizes (the largest about 2" across, but most about 1"), but brown, round, and firm with fleshy white roots. Perhaps the new bulbs will just take a little longer. Good luck. They make a magnificent mid summer display. I heard that they're a common roadside weedy plant in Australia. Here in my garden, they've formed a neat, slowly growing clump.

when you received them, were the bulbs firm or mushy? If mushy, it's probably not good. They should have had signs of growth by now.

When I received them, they were very hard and covered with mold. I've read bulbs should not dry very much during winter storage. But those were really dry. I don't have experience with crocosmia, to me they looked dead. Will see if I am right.

I ordered from veseys too, and thought the crocosmia bulbs also looked poor. No growth for me either, yet.
