I tried planting them once with no success. Then I read that you were supposed to soak them first. I did that when I planted a pot indoors. I think I planted at the end of March. They are now about 8" tall. Can't wait for them to flower! Marg

Odd, here they grow almost too well. At least the common orange ones. They make huge masses of bulblets and start pushing out the other plants around them. I once left a box of dug up bulbs behind the garage and the next year they flowered anyway.

I think that the yellows and reds are much slower to spread so a lot of people here grow those ones and avoid the orange variety. Personally, I like them as orange is my favorite colour.

Last autumn, I dug up some red crocosmia that I bought last year as an experiment, conserved the bulbs properly and tried starting them inside in March. Absolutely nothing. So I can totally relate claubill!!

I don't fell I have the energy to give it another go right away, I am trying loads of other things in the garden. Maybe in a few years I'll get some others and try soaking them, but to be honest, I am not sure it's worth all that effort in my climate! I can be fairly lazy for certain things!

Here in Winnipeg I forgot some last year. They grew and are budding now. Mind you we had a pretty mild winter . Snow had arrived by the time we went to -50C. This year I'll leave them again but will put a bag of leaves over them after ground is frozen and snow cover has arrived.
