Another rose question

I have a piece ( about 10 square meters/ 10'x10') of lawn that's bare (because of a temporary pool we put there) and I have to re-grow it - so I thought what about a rose bed in stead? Its nice and open and sunny

But now I think with all the pesticides that are banned, a rose bed is probably a risky business (I had a rose bed in South Africa and in spite of regular treatment with all the necessary stuff, they ended up struggling).

How disease resistant are the roses that claim to be?

Is a whole bed of roses on the risky side?

I'm growing mostly 'Explorer Roses' now and so far I haven't had any problems with insects or mildew and black spot.

I still have one Tropicana rose and it usually gets attacked by sawflies once during the summer. They're not too hard to deal with provided you notice the chewed leaves right away. And I've already hit it with sulfer which helps with mildew and black spot. You could also use baking soda.
